Want to lose weight? Feel less tired? Drink water. The hectic life we lead and the exposure to commercials almost 24/7, have made the simple act of drinking the only fluid that's actually good for you, even if you drink it in large quantities, almost disappear.
It's so much easier to get a soda, or a soft drink from the vending machine. It surely tastes better. It's sweeter, fizzier, fruitier. It's cool to go out to a bar after work and have an alcoholic drink with friends.
We don't say you shouldn't, who wouldn't like a Cosmopolitan or a mixed drink of some kind? But if you overdid it and don't want to wake up the next morning with a massive hangover, we suggest that you have some water with your drinks.
Oh, and please remember, drinking and driving don't mix. A sports drink or an energy drink after practice might give you some energy and salts you might have lost, but that doesn't mean you don't need the water as well.
Many of us drink lots of coffee during the day, and think it's a good replacement. Actually, coffee makes you urinate more, adding to your dehydration. If you can't drink plain water, try adding a wedge of lemon, or some mint leaves to it. Try diluting a frozen fruit drink with plenty of water. It helps to drink from a nice glass, and most important: don't forget the coaster!
